Country Escape

Last week was tough for me in more ways than one, the sun finally arrived in London, which would usually cheer me up greatly, however, whilst I am still awaiting treatment for several of my major chronic conditions particularly, my dysautonomia - meaning any temperature changes also cause major havoc...
Throw in lots of personal stuff, and my partner also dealing with some personal things going on in his life, we decided we should go for a mini-break somewhere not too far from London (due to my health conditions) but a place to escape everything for a while and switch off..

Sumners Ponds, a fishing campsite in Sussex looked like the perfect place to just that... We were lucky enough to book incredibly last minute (the morning of our departure), and I thought I would share some photographs of the trip with you..

The shepherds hut 'Gabriel' was our home for the trip...

With a memory foam mattress, and by opening the top of the doors for the night, it was the most tranquil experience to wake up to the sounds of birds chirping and looking out onto the lake every morning

As you can see it didn't take long before we put our feet up and made ourselves at home!

Once we had settled in and had some delicious lunch at the cafe, (pictured above - which caters for many diets) we headed off to do a spot of fishing (over the course of our trip we managed to quite literally 'test the waters' in every pond on the site!)

Our shepherds hut had plenty of privacy...

I even have to add, I was slightly concerned of the shower situation with my PoTS however, the state of the art toilet/shower block (which had a jungle soundtrack, and subtle underfloor heating) couldn't have been more adapted for me if I had requested it! Each individual shower had it's own dressing area - with a seat (also suitable for the shower) making it the ideal situation for PoTS sufferers..

Our stay at Sumners Ponds was just the most relaxing time we have had in such a long term, the place was so idyllic and we know we will be back before long, when we are in need of another retreat from the hustle and bustle of the London life again.
On the way home we made a quick detour to Brighton, to escape reality for a little while longer..

After a quick dip in the sea, and a lovely meal, we decided it was time to head home, an back to the 'Big Smoke' that we call home.. Until next time!
